We have to find a ray of sunshine in these terrible times. For me, this sunbeam is the idea that I will finally leave my house more beautiful than when I was locked up. Hair? Finished! The skin? For sure! Body? OK! I take the time to spend the winter and get out of my forties like a new woman! With all this time at home, I can work on my beauty goals all day long. Even while I'm working!
I had the opportunity to work with the stylist and black hair expert Mia Mo to speak . Mia is a stylist with years of experience. She spent twenty years caring for her haircare career as a part-time job. After long hours in college and in call centers, Mia learned how to heal and style hair. You are now returning through the My Hair Goals program. The program is designed to give each of you the tools necessary to achieve your hair goals. Whether you need a healthy scalp, length, or a better definition of curls, Mia Mo has a plan for everything.
I asked Mia what the best natural hair regime would be for this quarantine, and she had incredible ideas! Read on to find your new favorite natural hair program while you're stuck at home.
Twist / twisted
"The twists and braids always give you two styles in one," said Mia. "Even out the curves for a few days while hydrating them. Then lower it to reveal perfectly defined locks.
If you are natural lately or are not used to styling your hair, this hairstyle is a perfect place to start. You can subdivide your larger sections if you're looking for more volume, or reduce them for permanent definition. Things to consider with this style: Hydrate from root to tip with an excellent water-based moisturizer and seal with an oil of your choice. My favorite is MHG HairGoals Oil .
It is light and easy to absorb from the hair. Make sure your braid and twist sections are even. If you need to re-style your hair underneath, the end result changes. It's a mistake I made too many times when I first tried this style. Also let the hair dry completely before removing it. ""
